HowTo: Upload your own Image/Avatar for your Profile |
 |
If you need help with adding your own picture from your PC to your RTH Member Profile then read this thread:
Personal Images/Avatars can only be of the following file types listed:
Allowed filetypes:
Bitmap files will not work. If your picture is not one of these standard formats, you must convert it to one of those listed above before uploading it to your profile.
Also; The image must be within an a size limit of 300x300 pixels -
We set the limit on physical porportion of images, generally for usability, if we let users have massively sized images, the forum layout would be simply all over the place, and the information on Message Posts would be just un-readable.
The final point which needs to be considered; is making sure your Image does not exceed a filesize of 488.28 KB. Which approx. rounds up to 500 KiloBytes. - This limit is also set for usability reasons. If images are to large in size, the forum threads would simply take forever to load up. For example if 5 message contributors had messages in the same thread which images of close to 1mb in size, imagine what a Dial-Up internet user would experience when they try to read that thread! What a nightmare.
Also, we have no objection to using generated thumbnail images found in our Media Gallery for use in your profile, if you have found a image you would like to display from the Gallery, simply follow these steps:
- When in the RTH Media Gallery, right-click the smallest version of the image you would like to use, this is called the thumbnail version.
- Choose Save Picture As.. from the right-click menu that appears for that selected image.
- Select a spot on your computer to temporarly save this image to, and remember it for Step 6.
- Now browse back to the forums, and enter your User Control Panel Page.
- Click on the Avatars icon.
- Scroll to the bottom an choose the Browse button to pick the image which you saved from the gallery.
- Hit submit to save the changes.
So we hope that this helps when trying to submit your own Images for use in your member profile. For any other assistance, reply here, or for a different topic; start a new thread in this forum.
